So we traveled to East Asia to film a six-part series about beauty, style, and shopping and we’re kicking it off with a tour of some of Tokyo's most interesting vending machines! Japan has a TON of vending machines that you can purchase a variety of goods from, and we visited 4 different machines all over the city to investigate some of the strange ones we had heard about. We got some canned bread, hornet larva, spicy snacks, hot soup in a can, and mystery box items from a ~creepy~ vending machine corner!

ooh man its been so long ago. but i think it was a book i read. it was called 1000 year old duck eggs. and it was a story about two sisters. one was adopted. and at the end of the story. it makes you wonder who was the survivor. because i think one of them died. while you were eating the hot soup. you pulled out the egg. and it reminded me of the story.

Also? Oden? love love love it. I'm crazy fortunate that I have what used to be an Alberston's (major grocery store, for those that don't know) grocery store taken over by an Asian market (Ocean Mart). In their frozen food section they have Oden kits. In their sauce section, they have oden concentrate. We lived in Japan for 3 years and I can buy, at this store away from high Asian populations, the EXACT brands I might have purchased at the local markets in Japan. My kids? they were 3 and 5, are now 11 and 13. The 11-year-old makes what they call 'fish ball soup'. It's oden, but it's the broth, frozen fish balls, dehydrated seaweed, and a spoon of miso. When it's done they finish with bonito flakes. I mean... Send me back to Japan. Please.

Actually there is canned bread right here in the USA under the brand of B&M. Its a molasses, wheat and rye bread with or without rasins. I always keep a couple cans on hand.
